I'm trying to fully understand the web flow diagram for CAS at

I can follow it perfectly until protect app #2 is called. I would like to know
what this MOD_AUTH_CAS cookie is and why the flow for protected app #2 is
different than the first protected app. Does it still use the session cookie?
