On May 13th at 11 AM ET, this dynamic panel of educators, open source leaders, students, interns, and HAX adopters will discuss how the contributor pipeline has changed and grown as resources for higher education and open source projects have shrunk.

From Bryan Ollendyke, the HAX Lab Faculty and HAX Project Lead:

"Do more with less. It's been the ask of higher education for the last 15 years (at least), and in the age of AI, that expectation has only grown. In 2017, my open-source authoring platform HAX (Headless Authoring Experience) employed four developers with formal responsibility for supporting online course development. By 2023, post-pandemic, we had one (me). Development of HAX should have slowed to a crawl, yet by 2024, we saw an explosion of output.

What changed? My teaching."

HAX has spent the last several years developing a model that blends classroom learning, extracurricular club participation, and meaningful open-source project contribution. And it’s working.

Join us on Wednesday to learn how HAX is building sustainable pathways for students to become real contributors while supporting an Apereo project doing genuinely innovative work in this space.
