Hi all,

I am looking to learn more about the uPortal 5.5 Health Checker and its capabilities, but was unable to locate documentation on it. Can someone provide more information on what the uPortal 5.5 Health Checker's capabilities are, or in what other ways you are scanning the health of your uPortal node for reporting outages and communicating with other systems?

Thanks.

uPortal has a /uPortal/health-check endpoint for reporting its status to other systems.
Health check was added in https://github.com/Jasig/uPortal/pull/1333 and available in versions 5.3.0 and above.
It returns a 200 HTTP status code for GET requests when the server is healthy.
When using Docker, the built in HEALTHCHECK feature can be pointed to the /uPortal/health-check endpoint, see https://github.com/Jasig/uPortal-start/pull/325 for an example of this.

Best Regards,

Christian Murphy
