On Sakai 22, how can you differentiate what each user has or does not have permission to do in a course?

When adding new users internally there are several user roles:

What’s the easiest way to know what each role can do/not do? We’re looking to extend offering courses to alumni, but want to differentiate them so faculty know they need not grade learners who are auditing courses.

Hi Dave,

The screenshot you indicated here shows the user type. However, the user role within a site is a little different than user type in the system. The role in the site is what determines what users can and can't do in that site. To view the full set of user permissions with a site, go to Administrative Workspace > Realms > locate the realm you want to view by site id (or select !site.template.course to view default roles and permissions) and choose the role within the site to view and modify permissions for that particular role.

Hi David,
If you are a Sakai admin, navigate to Admin Workspace → Realms.
Search for the site ID, then scroll down to the Roles section.
Click on each role to view and modify the permissions assigned to that role within the site. You can also edit these permissions on that specific realm to update that one courses permission set for those roles.  If you want to alter the roles for a broader set of courses, additional work is required.
