Skinning Sakai 20.3

Hi All, 

I am new to sakai but I have been able to deploy Sakai 20.3, however, making changes to the skin to suit what I want has been a problem. 

I specifically want to change colours in relation to some of these variables;

$topNav-text-color

$button-primary-background

$button-primary-border-color

$sites-nav-menu-item-selected-background

$sites-nav-menu-item-selected-color: 

$sites-nav-menu-item-selected-icon-color: 

$sites-nav-menu-item-selected-border-color:

$all-sites-button-background-color

$all-sites-button-star-full-color:

$all-sites-button-hover-background-color: 

$all-sites-tool-menu-hover-background-color: 

$all-sites-tool-menu-hover-text-color: 

$all-sites-tool-menu-hover-icon-color: 

$tool-menu-item-hover-text-color: 

$tool-menu-item-hover-icon-color:

$tool-menu-item-hover-background-color:

$tool-menu-item-hover-border-left:

But where ever I make this changes, it does not reflect. I made changes to this folder; /library/src/morpheus-master/sass/_defaults.scss but when I compile it does not work. I tried making the changes in the i/library/src/morpheus-master/sass/_customization.scss but that one too nothing much. 

Am new to this and it is becoming difficult to change the skin colour however I read around it. Please help.

we use 

mvn clean install sakai:deploy -Dmaven.tomcat.home=<path_to_tomcat_home> -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Pcompile-skin,ckeditor-extras

Benson, Welcome! I think there's an issue with the library/src/morpheus-master/sass/base/_material-defaults.scss file that's causing it to override what you're putting into _defaults.scss. I'll bring it up on the core call today to see if a patch should go in. In the meantime, I recommend updating the values in both of those files. That should fix the issue you're experiencing.
