Dear Apereo Community,
We’re excited to share that the Apereo Foundation will anchor the new Open Source in Higher Education event at the 23rd Annual Southern California Linux Expo (SCaLE 23x), taking place March 5–8, 2026, at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, California.
At Apereo, we are deeply committed to partnering with community-driven conferences that uphold the open source values at the heart of our work. SCaLE is North America’s largest community-run open source conference, and our partnership allows us to spotlight the incredible innovation happening in higher education around open source software and open educational resources.
The Open Source in Higher Education event will feature sessions showcasing how open technologies are being used, developed, and managed across academic institutions—from multi-institution consortia to departmental projects. This is an excellent opportunity for developers, educators, researchers, and system administrators to share insights and connect with peers shaping the future of open higher education globally.
We strongly encourage Apereo projects and community members to submit proposals to the CFP. The Apereo staff are available to assist you with your submissions and offer guidance to ensure your work gets the visibility it deserves. This is a chance to raise awareness about the meaningful contributions our projects are making to open source communities worldwide.
CFP is now open: Submit your proposal
Key Dates:
Nov 1, 2025: Early submission deadline
Dec 1, 2025: Final submission deadline

The Apereo Foundation Team
