The Inter-American Network of Academies of Sciences (IANAS), in partnership with the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM), the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC), and the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), has launched the call for the Connections to Sustain Science in Latin America Symposium 2026, which will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, on August 25-27, 2026. Applications must be submitted online before the deadline of April 15, 2026, at 11:59 PM ET (Washington, D.C. time).
The symposium will bring together outstanding early/mid‑career scientists, engineers, and medical professionals (within 15 years of completing their highest degree) from across the Americas to explore exciting advances and opportunities in their fields. The event will be conducted in English and aims to enhance scientific exchange and dialogue among young researchers in the region, promoting collaboration within and beyond Latin America. A unique feature of this symposium is its multidisciplinary nature. Participants come from diverse backgrounds and research interests, with the goal of catalyzing convergence research, innovation, and the cross‑pollination of ideas – distinct from traditional conferences focused on a single topic.
The session themes will be: (1) Artificial Intelligence in Life Sciences; (2) Oceans; (3) Biomedicine / Omics; (4) The Amazon and Sustainability; and (5) Resilience to Extreme Events.
I kindly ask for your help in broadly disseminating this opportunity and encouraging early/mid‑career scientists, engineers, and medical professionals in Argentina who work in related areas to apply to this multidisciplinary meeting.
Eligibility criteria and the link for online applications are available at: https://ianas.org/news/connections-to-sustain-science-in-latin-america-applications-are-open/
There is no application fee, and all travel costs – including flights, hotel, meals, and local transportation – will be covered for the participants.
