Dear APAC Space members,

You are invited to join a call tonight at 22:00 SGT / 14:00 UTC led by the Business and Intellectual Property (IP) Constituencies in ICANN to seek community’s input on the Accreditation and Access Model for Non-Public WHOIS Data, which is proposed to be implemented in parallel with the Proposed Interim Compliance Model for GDPR. The duration of the call will be two hours.

To join this call, please email admin-acc...@icann.org for call details.

You may wish to refer to the call invitation here: http://www.ipconstituency.org/assets/Outreach/Invitation%20to%20Community%20Discussion%20on%20Accreditation%20Model.pdf

Thanks Joyce

This is a really important issue and ordinarily I’d be joining the call.  However, the timing isn’t great for the APAC region so I am hoping that the presentation will be on the APAC space and we can view it and make comments within 24 hours of the presentation

Thanks

Holly

Since business and IP constituency is leading it, I would request to address the followings.

1. Will registered trade name owners rights be protected or diluted in this new proposed model.

2. Any possibility to register and link TradeMark registeration details with domain Whois.

Looking forward to attend the call

Thanks

Ajay

Dear Joyce and colleagues,

I want to point that the BC/IPC proposed accreditation model is NOT a "community-wide" proposal and as far as I am aware, many parts of the community either do not support or have not carefully considered their proposal.

Kind regards,

Pam

Hi Pam,

That is why this is an opportunity to solicit feedback from the community and to address those concerns. From what I understand, criticism is also welcomed with an invitation for a solution, of course.

I understand the purpose of the webinar, Michael. My concern is that the subject line and some of the language in Joyce's email may give people the wrong impression.

FYI - below is the contracted parties GDPR discussion group's response to the invitation a couple of days ago:

The Contracted Parties are very interested in discussing how gated access can work, including providing input into the BC/IPC ideas and suggestions on accreditation. Given the complexities involved, however, we are highly unlikely to be able to stand up a centralized accreditation system by May 25. Right now, Contracted Parties are focused on the critical basic compliance requirements that we will need to meet in the event that ICANN is not successful in securing an enforcement delay – this includes the question of how to provide access to non-public data to legitimate requestors in a way that complies with the GDPR. With this in mind, we believe that discussions about the specifics of a centralized accreditation model will be more productive if they are based on guidance that we now understand will be forthcoming after the Article 29 Working Party Plenary April 10-11. Let’s talk after that.

Kind regards,

Pam

Hi Pam,

My apologies. I can understand how that may be misunderstood by some. I do believe a stronger emphasis on the words "proposed" and by who would help clarify the invitation.
