rsync

I found this example online using the --delete- option. 

$ rsync -avxP -n --delete --exclude-from=/home/karthick/Work/Backup/ignore_list.txt /home/karthick /media/karthick/"My Passport"/

I can just edit this to my preference but maybe change some options.

I used luckybackup which is a byproduct of rsync. This program allows me to specify which elements are backed up and which are not. There is also an interesting feature where I can see the line that would be used directly on the terminal to achieve that same setup. It's worth a while having a look at it as an alternative
