Tips for a bash script

I was using chatgpt to give me a head start. I did some research on rsync and how I can use it to backup and restore files. I have a backup ssd and want to restore a directory recursively but want it to select which files/folders to copy/restore back. I'll link the code for what I have now, it seems to partly work, yet is kinda rough and not what I want it to do.
