BELUG: Supporting Linux and open source for 21 years.

The next BELUG meeting is Tuesday, March 10th at 6:30pm.

NOTE:
We have a new "ZOOM" link to a jitsi meet server. I have tested
it with my browser so I am looking forwarded to using a self
hosted service. This first jitsi meeting will be interesting,
so please have patience. You can also find this link on the
http://belug.us web site.

The "Zoom" jisti link is:

The North Bellevue Community Center location is open this month for the
in-person meeting:

North Bellevue Community Center
4063 148th Ave NE
Bellevue, WA. 98007

Please come early to help set up the room.

I asked for some feedback on our meeting format and I have rearranged
our topics to move the technical parts to the beginning:

a very short time for people to arrive on-line and in-person
a presentation by our jitsi host about his server setup
answer any technical questions about linux
non-technical discussion in any remaining time

In February we covered these topics:

Jerry discussed his setup with a new KVM switch. This one has a
good price:

Kevin got a new 12" framework laptop and mentioned the dell xps
series and cacheyos:

Jay talked about his raid 10 btrfs system with monthly scrub,
and nightly snapshot with btrbk. I mentioned the btrfs disk
calculator. Jay also had a new keychron keyboard and mentioned
kinesis ergonomic keyboards:

We discussed AI and I see three phases in the research I have
done so far for self-hosted AI:

1 - chatbots like chatgpt.com
https://huggingface.co/
https://ollama.com/
2 - api access with other programs such as a code editor
https://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=6048
3 - ai agents running other agents for you
Any suggestions for self-hosted software here?

Thank you,
