Dear colleagues,

Please join us at our upcoming 1-day symposium ‘Non-toxic: Alternative Masculinities in Gaming, Esports, and Streaming’, to be held 4 September 2025, University of Adelaide and online.

We look forward to hosting a lively and productive day of talks highlighting approaches to masculinity beyond the stereotypes of hyper-aggressive and abusive men and boys commonly associated with online gaming cultures. A full call for presentations is attached to this email, and we encourage you to register to attend and/or present by 8 August 2025 via the online form here: https://adelaideuniwide.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_byJISvnv6IQVtFI. Please also circulate this call to others within your networks who may be interested in participating.

With best wishes,

Kim Barbour and Matt Hart

The University of Adelaide acknowledges the Kaurna peoples as the traditional custodians of the unceded land on which our first campus is built. We value the presence of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples from across Australia as part of our University community, as indicated in our 2019 Reconciliation Action Plan
