Dear Crosstowners, I have so much to talk with you about, but I am heading up to the hospital to check in with Bob Tannen, my husband, whose Subaru self accelerated last week, hitting a couple of cars and then slamming at high speed into a tree. While this is not a well-known kind of occurrence, it has happened. In fact, there is a class action suit vs Subaru for just this kind of mishap. I know how much so many of you care about this very creative, caring man, but please don't try to contact him right now until we get him settled in skilled nursing where he will rest his legs with fractures in his knees for several weeks. Feel free to email me and I will try to respond as time allows. If you know anything about these self-acceleration issues, I would love to hear from you. On the happier side, I invite you to listen to the show this Friday at noon on WBOK 1230 AM to hear from Kiane Davis, a delightful, creative, hard-charging multi-disciplinary woman who is the director and choreographer of Sweet Potatoes Queens opening this Friday night with a lot of glitz, fun, food, and terrific theater at the Jefferson Performing Arts Society. Tune in and make plans to see an exceptionally entertaining show. I am not a terribly religious person with a Catholic upbringing and a Jewish father. But I am fascinated by the unified messages all faiths share of doing the right thing and working towards more unity than division. September is a month of high holy days for people of the Jewish faith, so for the second year in a row, I have invited Rabbi Mendel Ceitlin to tell us about the meaning of the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah which begins September 25th, and Yom Kippur, a day of "atonement" that comes up later, starting October 4th. I think you will appreciate his perspective and learn something about the Jewish high holy holidays I have to admit not knowing much about myself. I have lots more to visit with you about, but we have another newsletter and show next week. Till then, |
