VOLUNTEER FIELD ASSISTANT needed from October 1, 2014 to December 20, 2014 (dates flexible) to assist with a study on the reproductive behavior of the tropical frog-eating bat, Trachops cirrhosus. Work will be conducted at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute facilities in the mainland town of Gamboa. No prior experience is required, but applicants should be comfortable working late at night and are required to have pre-exposure rabies vaccines. Work will include mistnetting bats, conducting behavioral observations in roosts, and behavioral experiments in flight cages. Assistants are expected to work 5 days a week with 2 days off, and are encouraged to pursue independent projects on their days off. I will cover housing and $200 per month for food, but no salary is available.
