Course: Field Photography
Instructor: Terri Cappucci, MFA
Dates: 19 July - 9 August 2015
Description:
We will spend 19 July – 9 August, 2015 learning and practicing skills in outdoor photography in southern Africa. We will practice with a variety of subjects, from landscapes to portraits. We will begin the course with a night in the Cradle of Humankind region before traveling to Loskop Dam Nature Reserve, a provincial nature reserve. We will stay at the research site run by UNISA’s Applied Behavioural Ecology & Ecosystem Research Unit (ABEERU), where we will have orientation, bush skills training, fieldwork, and lectures. Next, we will spend six nights in the remote wilderness of Makuleke Contractual Park, inside the very northern tip of Kruger National Park. Makuleke boasts a rich cultural history as well as impressive biodiversity and landscapes ranging from fever tree forests like those that inspired Kipling to breathtaking gorges and pools. We will stay at the EcoTraining Makuleke Camp, where students will be trained in wildlife photography skills by some of the best instructors in southern Africa. We will then transfer to EcoTraining’s Mashatu Camp in Botswana. Students will then view and photograph the breathtaking landscapes on the scenic Panorama Route and Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. We will wrap up the trip at Leshiba Wilderness Reserve for photographic workshops and one-on-one training with the instructor.
Cost: $4600
