The Central Ornithology Publication Office (COPO) is pleased to announce that Friday, September 13, marks the launch of a new online portal for manuscript submission and peer review for articles for The Auk: Ornithological Advances and The Condor: Ornithological Applications. Beginning Friday, you can log in to the PeerTrack submission system, update your profile, and submit research papers for consideration in the 2014 ornithology journals published by the American Ornithologists' Union and the Cooper Ornithological Society.
In the next week, many users of the journals' previous online system will receive an email with a username and password; please use that to log in. Otherwise, search for your name on the login page, and if you do not find it, then register as a new author. The system will then guide authors through the manuscript submission process. The downloadable <http://www.peertrack.net/COPO/AUK-CONDOR_Instructions_for_Authors.pdf>Author Instructions document also contains details about how to submit a manuscript. Send inquiries about submission or publication questions to the managing editors at COPO (<mailto:aouco...@gmail.com>aouco...@gmail.com).
If you have a manuscript currently under review in ScholarOne, you will receive an email from COPO about how and when you will be able to access your manuscript in PeerTrack.
In 2014, The Condor will become The Condor: Ornithological Applications, and will focus on applied ornithological study, and The Auk will become The Auk: Ornithological Advances, and will focus on basic ornithological science.
Dr. Mark Hauber (<mailto:mark....@hunter.cuny.edu>mark....@hunter.cuny.edu) of Hunter College-CUNY is Editor-in-Chief of The Auk: Ornithological Advances and Dr. Phil Stouffer (<mailto:psto...@lsu.edu>psto...@lsu.edu) of Louisiana State University is Editor-in-Chief of The Condor: Ornithological Applications. Send inquires about the suitability of an article topic for the journals to either Editor-in-Chief.
The Condor: Ornithological Applications and The Auk: Ornithological Advances will be primarily online journals, with articles published weekly. Posted articles will have a DOI and final page numbers for citation. Printed issues will continue on a quarterly basis. Both journals will be available on <http://www.bioone.org/>BioOne (<http://www.bioone.org/>bioone.org) and on a new publishing platform, which will be announced later in the fall.
Research articles, Perspectives, Commentaries, and Reviews undergo peer review through the new portal. All manuscripts that are submitted for peer review should be submitted as Research Articles. Please contact the Editor-in-Chief of the appropriate journal before submitting Perspectives, Commentaries, and Reviews. Send book reviews, In Memoriamessays, and News and Notes directly to the respective editors or to COPO at <mailto:aouco...@gmail.com>aouco...@gmail.com.Specifywhich journal you are submitting a non-research article submission to: The Condor: Ornithological Applications or The Auk: Ornithological Advances.
