The Department of Psychology at the University of New England invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Animal Behavior beginning August 1, 2013. Preference will be given to candidates who (1) can contribute to our growing animal behavior and neuroscience majors, (2) have advanced training in either animal behavior or ethology, (3) have teaching experience, and (4) have the ability to establish an independent research program actively involving undergraduate students. Candidates who conduct research in applied animal behavior, behavioral genetics, or the mechanisms of behavior are especially encouraged to apply. We are a 9-member department enrolling over 225 students in three majors targeted for growth: Psychology, Neuroscience, and Animal Behavior. The successful candidate will teach courses that contribute to curricula in the department’s three undergraduate programs, and may include Introduction to Psychology, Sensation and Perception, Animal Cognition, Animal Behavior Methods and Techniques, Biological Bases of Behavior, and a topics course in the candidate’s area of expertise. The successful candidate will be a teacher-scholar dedicated to student success in advising, the classroom and research. ABD considered and PhD preferred.
