The University of Connecticut is in the midst of a $2.8 billion building and renovation program to create one of the foremost physically attractive, technologically advanced and highly ranked public research universities in the United States.  Situated on a peninsula of more than 70 picturesque acres in Groton, Connecticut, the Avery Point Campus is UConn's campus by the sea, providing students a vibrant community of learning, research, and outreach.  As a center of excellence for marine-related research, the Avery Point Campus is home to UConn’s Department of Marine Sciences; the Marine Sciences and Technology Center; Connecticut Sea Grant; the Northeast Underwater Research, Technology and Education Center; and the non-profit educational organization, Project Oceanology.  Over the past 13 years, the Avery Point campus has undergone a major transformation.  Included in a recent $60 million renovation project is a new Marine Sciences and technology building; a new Project Oceanology building; a new Student Center; a new research vessel; and renovations of the Branford House mansion, the gymnasium and pool, and classrooms in the Academic Building.  Students enjoy the use of high-tech classrooms, computer labs, a UConn Co-op bookstore, a branch of the UConn Library system, the Learning Center, café with food service options, study lounges and spaces, and ample parking.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Biology or a related discipline by the start date of employment. The candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to high quality undergraduate education.

Preferred Qualifications: prior experience teaching lecture and laboratory courses.

This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position that will report to both the Head of the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Department and the Director of the Avery Point campus.  In-Residence positions are one-year, non-tenure track appointments, but may be renewed annually.  Salary will be commensurate with background, qualifications, and experience.

Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and statement of teaching interests to Husky Hire at www.jobs.uconn.edu.  Applicants invited for interviews will be required to provide names of references and/or letters of recommendation.  Review of applications will begin immediately.  For full consideration online applications should be received no later than December 20, 2013.  For further information, interested candidates should contact Stephen Trumbo at Tru...@uconn.edu.
