The Coordinator of the PSM degree program in Zoo, Aquarium, and Animal Shelter Management (ZAASM) reports to the Chair of Biology, Internal Program Advisory Committee, and the Director of the PSM in the College of Natural Sciences.  The Coordinator will provide leadership and management of the PSM in ZAASM program.  The Coordinator position is a 50% time, 12-month position, with a preferred start date of August 15, 2014.

Responsibilities

·         Advise PSM students in the ZAASM specialization, approximately 20-24 students each year, and help pair students with faculty advisers (primarily) in the Biology Department.

·         Establish and maintain connection with organizations and project mentors where students will conduct their master’s projects.

·         Work with students, Biology faculty advisers, and project mentors in organizations to develop and carry out master’s projects.

·         Organize field trips and seminar speakers.

·         Organize course instruction and curriculum, course scheduling, and work with instructors and faculty in the Biology Department to develop new courses.

·         Recruit, advertise, and promote the PSM program to prospective program applicants and partner organizations.

·         Student applicant evaluation and admission (as member of program admissions committee).

·         Teach courses within the program as defined by Department Chair, including NSCI 693 each semester.

·         Ability to advance the Department’s commitment to diversity and inclusion through research, teaching, and outreach with relevant programs, goals and activities.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, applicants must hold PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience administering a graduate program and/or upper division undergraduate training.

·         Demonstrated ability to network and engage with university, public, and private entities.
