Job description: I am seeking an assistant for a postdoctoral project on behavioral interactions between native and invasive birds in suburban Australian towns. The position involves transect work to determine avian abundance and vegetation characteristics, plus experiments of behavioral interactions between species. We will not be mist-netting birds. Fieldwork will be conducted in the suburban environment of several cities (likely Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne) and regional towns.
Qualifications: Most importantly the ability to work sometimes long hours in a variety of conditions while maintaining your sense of humor. Ability to sit still during behavioral trials - ie patience - is a big plus. A BSc in Ecology or related field completed or in progress is preferred.
To apply: Email a cover letter, CV and contact information for at least 2 references to Dr Kathryn Peiman (kpeiman AT
ucla.edu). Applicants will be reviewed as they are received.
