Applications are invited for graduate students (MSc or PhD) to work on projects addressing the origin, evolution and functions of song complexity in passerine birds. A variety of specific projects are possible including, but not limited to, examining the fitness correlates and consequences of variable song complexity within focal populations; the life-history and mating system correlates of song complexity across widely distributed populations; population differentiation in singing styles across broad geographic scales. Additional details of current students, projects, study sites and focal species are available at: http://people.uleth.ca/~d.rendall
Graduate students are eligible for full funding packages through a combination of TA-ships and competitive internal scholarships, and are encouranged to apply for external fellowships from a variety of Provincial and Federal sources. More than 2/3 of current students are fully funded and approximately 25% are successful in competitions for external awards.
