Two (2) graduate assistantships are available through the University of Guelph, and one (1) at the University of Saskatchewan to assess methods for on-farm euthanasia of poultry species. This is a multi-disciplinary project, including aspects of behaviour, physiology, histology and neuroanatomy. Each assistantship is for a 3 year Ph.D. in poultry welfare from the University of Guelph or the University of Saskatchewan, with collaboration with poultry producers and with researchers at Iowa State University. Students must be eligible for graduate admission to the Departments of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Guelph or the University of Saskatchewan. The assistantship includes an annual PhD stipend for three years. Canadian citizens and permanent residents will also be encouraged to apply for an NSERC scholarship.
