Overview. The O’Donnell lab at Drexel University seeks a Postdoctoral researcher to participate in and extend research projects in the lab. This is a two year position. Research topic is open depending on the interests and experience of the applicant, but applicants who interface well with ongoing research in the lab will be given strongest consideration. Current areas of research emphasis are: evolution and plasticity of brain architecture in social insects; evolution of sensory and brain investment in birds; and ecology and behavior of bird-army ant interactions. The lab combines bench work, Neotropical field research, and local field research.
The lab has its own histology and microscopy facilities, and access to a shared imaging facility in Drexel Biology (e.g., confocal microscopy) and to the Drexel engineering central research facility (e.g., scanning electron microscopy, micro-CT x-ray scanner).

Essential Functions. The postdoctoral researcher will focus on collecting, analyzing, and publishing data both in the lab and in the field; meet regularly and work closely with the PI and other lab members to develop and carry out research programs; assist with lab organization and maintenance; and serve as a mentor to junior lab members (graduate and undergraduate students).
