BACKGROUND
The
Bonne Bay Marine Station represents Memorial University with a mandate
to support academic research, university teaching and public education.
The Station hosts one graduate and seven undergraduate university
courses, as well as numerous University researchers and school groups,
and over 10,000 tourists.

DUTIES
Under
the direction of, and in collaboration with, the Director of the Bonne
Bay Marine Station, the successful candidate will be responsible for
performing senior level professional and technical support for research,
public education, and communications at the Bonne Bay Marine Station.
Duties include facilitating academic course and program development;
preparing proposals for funding; developing marketing and public
education programs; supervising website and other internet activities;
developing and managing scientific tourism programs and industry
partnerships; training and supervising tour guides; managing
fee-for-service contracts; administering field programs; supervising
health and safety including field, diving and boating safety; preparing
budgets and fiscal management; developing policies; maintaining an
active liaison with administrative units of the University, and
maintaining and promoting communication with municipal councils, Parks
Canada, the media, and the public; training and supervising personnel,
including teaching assistants, laboratory personnel, and clerical,
residence and interpretative staff; supervising coordination of
activities of visiting researchers, graduate students, and instructors;
ensuring buildings and equipment are maintained to permit ongoing
operations; and performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
(5-7 years) in research, teaching, administration and coordination in
marine field activities; graduation with a research Master's degree in
biological or marine research; or any equivalent combination of
experience and training. The ideal candidate will have experience in
laboratory science teaching, public education programs, marine research,
developing grant proposals and managing fee-for-service contracts.
Experience with Memorial's Banner Finance and Banner Student
Administration Systems will be an asset.
SALARY $64,039 - $83,011 per annum (Management and Professional)
