Hi Yang,

Thanks for asking! Currently the challenge is that not many devices output RAW over the camera2 API (REQUEST_AVAILABLE_CAPABILITIES_RAW). The first step we are looking at is getting more Android devices to output RAW. Given CameraX is built on camera2, enabling RAW at the framework layer is the first step.

Is there a specific use case you are looking to satisfy with RAW? On the devices that support RAW (like Pixels), have you tried camera2 Interop? Thanks!

No, I haven’t tried camera2 Interop.

Before I used camera2 APIs to capture RAW photos, and tested on pixel 3XL phone, and it worked.

And now I’m switching to cameraX , and I want RAW photos also can be taken.

So camera2 Interop is an option to get this done, right?

Could you show me some codes about using camera2 Interop?

Thanks!

Hello,

Thanks for your question. After speaking with the development team I don't believe there is a way to get RAW via camera2interop. If RAW is a requirement, the team believes camera2 would be better suited to your needs. Please keep in mind that not all devices will support RAW. Thanks!
