Any suggestion about recording mirrored video for front camera

Hi,

Currently we are using CameraX VideoCapture for simply recording videos, but I got a problem don't know how to resolve. In CameraX, Preview is auto mirrored for front camera, but the VideoCapture not and video file is not like jpeg image file which can include some meta data to decorate the content file. So the result is the recorded video for front camera is inconsistent with preview. Do you have any suggestion for this issue?

Hi Fei , 

As you might know,  CameraX VideoCapture is not a public API yet.  This means it is not fully tested and might contain lots of bugs.  We understand that video recording is a essential feature for camera app so we plan to have the VideoCapture alpha-released in the early 2021.  We will consider adding this feature in our VideoCapture Alpha.

Hi there,

Thanks for following up! We're actually working on the video API now - you can see the process and the source code at https://cs.android.com/androidx/platform/frameworks/support/+/androidx-main:camera/camera-video/

This has not yet launched in alpha as the team is working on going through our internal review process. Once it launches we will announce it here and you should be able to see a build in Maven. If you're interested in trying it out sooner you are welcome to do a local build and try it out!
