Dear All,

The DSI (https://www.amherst.edu/about/science_at_amherst/data-science-initiative) had a great first semester of programming. Thank you all for your support and participation.

We are holding a lunch on Fri 6/28, from noon to about 1.30pm, to recap the activities and brainstorm next year activities.

Some ideas that were floated back in January include a panel with NASA specialists about data evidence for climate change (duh!), talks from artists doing great work with data (our own Brian House gave a fantastic talk in May), distinguished guest speakers (I’m still trying to get Cynthia Dwork), and more. We also have an internal speakers series, and we are looking for candidates. =)

The DSI has a budget that can go a long way to make it possible for you to host your favorite people, but we need your ideas!
