Hi All,

Please join us on Tuesday 4/15 at 4:30 pm in SCCE E110 for a talk part of the Data Science Initiative speaker series.

Speaker: Michael Trainor (IT)

Title: Data Lakes to Knowledge Streams: Reflecting on Amherst's Analytics Journey

Abstract:

This presentation shares insights from our ongoing collaborative work to develop advanced data analytics capabilities at Amherst College with the goal of supporting more informed institutional decision-making. I'll reflect on recent efforts across Institutional Research, the LOEB Center, and IT to implement AWS-based solutions that help transform institutional data into more accessible insights. Drawing from both my previous experiences and our current explorations at Amherst, we'll discuss the unique considerations of building analytics capacity within our campus tradition of personal expertise and direct engagement. The session will include some technical examples alongside exploring how our small college environment shapes our approach to data access and governance. I look forward to sharing our team's progress and exploring potential future directions together.

Light fancy refreshments will be served before the talk.

Best,
Regan
