Hi All,

The Data Science Initiative is organizing a super-exciting talk about forecasting catastrophic events in a highly-consequential environment, where a mis-prediction either way can have fatal consequences. Even collecting data in this environment is extremely hard.

On Tue, 10/21, at 4pm, in SCCE A131,  Charlotte MacDonald, USFS Snow Ranger and Avalanche Forecaster at the Mt Washington Avalanche Center, will present "Beneath the Snowpack: Forecasting Avalanches in the Presidential Range”.

See the attached flyer, and please spread the word to all your outdoor-enthusiastic and data-curious friends, as the DSI talks are free and open to the general public.

As usual, we’ll have fancy refreshments before the talk =)

Hope to see you there.

Thanks,
Matteo
