The State Library of Ohio and OhioNet are pleased to announce Library Leadership Ohio (LLO)2026. The Library Leadership Ohio program spans nearly 30 years and includes hundreds of alumni in a variety of positions in libraries across Ohio and across the country. LLO supports great libraries by developing great leaders. Offering exceptional programs focused on personal development and transferable leadership skills, LLO fosters connections and collaboration within Ohio’s library community.

“Library Leadership Ohio has a great reputation for challenging and enriching library leaders at every level, and the 2026 program will be no different,” expressed Evan T. Struble, Associate State Librarian, State Library of Ohio. “We are grateful for the support and partnership of our colleagues at OhioNet, and we look forward to meeting this year’s LLO cohort.”

Library Leadership Ohio will be held July 21-23 at the Hocking Hills State Park Lodge & Conference Center, in Logan, Ohio. Applications for the program will open Wednesday, February 18. The event will be facilitated by OhioNet and The State Library of Ohio.  A one-hour virtual information session about Library Leadership Ohio will be held on February 23 at 3:30 pm EST. Register for the information session.

Library Leadership Ohio 2026 will cultivate an opportunity for participants to refine skills, reflect on leadership values and goals, and develop a supportive professional network. Topics will include examining personal strengths, reflecting on leadership styles and values, determining personal goals for leadership development, participating in peer mentorship, cultivating wellbeing, and developing skills to thrive in today’s dynamic library environment.

“Library Leadership Ohio goes beyond developing the next generation of library leaders—it’s an investment in the future of Ohio’s libraries,” said Katy Mathuews, Executive Director & CEO of OhioNet. “Participants leave with a deeper understanding of their leadership values, strengthened skills to thrive through challenging times, and a collaborative network that empowers them to create meaningful, positive change across Ohio’s library communities.”

LLO welcomes library staff currently working in public, school, special, and academic libraries; all are eligible to apply. The LLO selection committee is seeking individuals with a commitment to the profession; the potential to lead and innovate in their current position and beyond; a passion for libraries; and willingness to explore the impact they can have in their communities.
