Circulation Assistant, Library Services

 

Reporting to and under the direction of the 18th Ave Library Operations Manager, the Circulation Assistant, Library Services preforms collection support and public services of a moderately to highly complex nature at the18th Avenue Library. Performs circulation support at the 18th Ave Library, serves as backup for circulation desk operations and support for other operations as necessary, and may oversee library during portions of the day. Supports the other department libraries with circulation operations during times of leaves and/or assigned as needed. Troubleshoots basic technology problems, assist with security/building issues. Consistently demonstrates commitment to our values and promotes an organizational culture of Discovery, Connection, Equity, Integrity, and Stewardship (https://library.osu.edu/strategic-directions) as well as dedication to advance the work of Research & Education unit. All other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 12:00pm – 9:00pm; may vary as needed.

 

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent certificate. At least 1-year of experience in library practices and procedures. Excellent customer service skills in a diverse, high-volume environment.. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and push a cart weighting up to 80 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation.

 

Desired Qualifications:

Two years library circulation experience. Previous experience supervising staff and/or student employees. Knowledge of Sierra, OhioLINK and Polaris or equivalent library systems. Excellent customer service skills in a diverse, high-volume environment.
