Electronic Resources Access Coordinator

 

The Electronic Resources Access Coordinator serves as an integral member of the Electronic Resources Management Team (Acquisitions and Discovery Program, Content and Access Division) with a focus on facilitating access management and enhancing discovery for the continuously expanding University Libraries electronic resource portfolio.

 

The position coordinates electronic content access by overseeing the activation, configuration and data management needs for electronic resources. Specific duties include activation and maintenance of access to the Libraries electronic resources, including databases, journals, books and newer formats such as streaming video and purchased data sets; configuration of supporting interfaces for user discovery, including cataloging; and trouble-shooting reported access problems. This work includes the administration of discovery management services and related knowledge bases for database and journal lists (i.e. Serials Solutions 360 Core, 360 MARC), Open URL link resolver (i.e. 360 Link), administration of EZproxy, used for managing off-campus access to resources, and holdings management for discovery and resource sharing (i.e. OCLC WorldShare Management Knowledge Base, Innovative Sierra ERM, Ex Libris Alma). In addition, the Coordinator is responsible for tracking and assembling usage data from multiple sources (i.e. 360 Link, direct w/ platform provider), managing the usage statistics gathering software, and working with Collections Strategy staff to configure and analyze data for collections assessment.

This position reports to the Electronic Resources Officer and works collaboratively with staff across departments, including IT and the Research and Learning Collaborative, as well as liaising with vendors and consortia partners. The position is located at the Libraries Tech Center and is eligible for a flexible work agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in English, Library Science, History, Communication, Web Development, or related degrees, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of experience working with library electronic resources or similar online systems and at least one year of experience using spreadsheet software and other applications for purposes of data organization and manipulation. Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills, especially for resolving issues and implementing changes. Knowledge of databases or electronic resources. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively within and beyond own unit to complete complex tasks. Strong interpersonal and communications skills to seek input and keep stakeholders informed of changes or issues.

 

Desired Qualifications:

Project management skills. Two years of experience working in a library environment. One year of experience managing or configuring databases, electronic resources or similar software. One year of experience with data management or library management systems, such as Serials Solutions products, Ill Sierra systems or Ex Libris Alma/Primo. Experience using ftp software and/or advanced file management/transfer tools. Knowledge of relationships between web-based systems, data sources, and discovery tools. Knowledge of one or more of the following: HTML, JavaScript, SQL.
