From Consortial to Local: Achieving ILS Migration Objectives at Your Local Library

Free Virtual Forum & Discussion
Friday, Oct. 27 ~ 9:30am-12pm

By October, Ohio academic libraries will be in the beginning stages of the ILS migration planning process at the consortial and local library levels. Although a good portion of the workflows will be guided by OhioLINK and the to-be-selected vendor, Ex Libris, each of our campus library systems will need to execute a local implementation plan that best serves the library and its stakeholders.

This Virtual Morning Forum & Discussion will be an excellent opportunity to compare notes on our planning efforts, and how we’re helping our colleagues across all library departments navigate the process. Our Forum panelists will include representatives from OhioLINK, Ohio academic library associations, and librarians experienced in ILS migrations. Insights and takeaways from the discussion will include tips on how to effectively:

  • Determine and explain the primary goals for the migration process
  • Leverage core project implementation and workflow strategies
  • Identify internal and external stakeholders
  • Initiate and sustain stakeholder buy-in within the library
  • Prepare, communicate with, and support library staff

Our local ILS transition activities will impact all library teams and departments.  Library staff, regardless of specialty, are encouraged to attend this free Forum.

Attending the Morning Forum, 9:30am-1pm

Access to the Morning Forum is provided free of charge to all Ohio academic librarians, regardless of whether they register for the 2023 ALAO Annual Conference. Sign up just for the Forum via the online form.

Attending the Virtual Mini-Conference, 1-4pm

That same afternoon ALAO will host a Mini-Conference with virtual lightning talks and thematic, audience-driven discussion sessions presented by Support, Access and Technical Services professionals. Topics will include both ILS-related and other issues impacting these professional communities. A great opportunity to continue discussions from the morning Forum!

If you wish also to attend the afternoon Virtual Mini-Conference on Oct. 27th, you must register for one of the  2023 ALAO Annual Conference packages.  Access to the Morning Forum is included in both of the registration package options at no additional charge.

Take the Pre-Forum Survey

Our panelists would love to hear more about how local ILS migration plans are going! Please consider taking this quick and anonymous survey about the kinds of planning considerations and challenges in play at your libraries, or other issues you would like to know more about. We’ll use this feedback to customize the Forum according to your top questions and concerns.

OhioLINK institutionally affiliated attendees can also log into their OhioLINK Ostaff accounts and review Deb Mashek’s recent 2023 OhioLINK Summit Keynote Address on project planning best practices,as well as her project planning checklist.
