Hi,

We're striving hard to getting a new release out this week. I'll reply to this thread when it's all ready to go.

Sorry for the wait!

Sorry for the delay -- we should be all ready for you now!

We repositories for yum/apt based systems:
deb/apt: http://software.akiban.com/apt-public/
rpm/yum: http://software.akiban.com/releases/

On Ubuntu, for example, one way to utilize it is with this command :
sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://software.akiban.com/apt-developer/ lucid main"

Otherwise, the packages are directly accessible through these links:
rpm - http://software.akiban.com/releases/1.6.0/rpms/akiban-server/akiban-server-1.6.0-2602.noarch.rpm
deb - http://software.akiban.com/releases/1.6.0/debs/akiban-server/akiban-server_1.6.0_all.deb
dmg - http://software.akiban.com/releases/1.6.0/installers/Akiban_Server_1.6.0.dmg
exe - http://software.akiban.com/releases/1.6.0/installers/akiban-server-1.6.0-installer.exe

Also make sure to check out our documentation:
http://www.akiban.com/docs.html

Let us know if you have any troubles!

Hello Nathan,
need your help again.

I was following this instructions:
sudo apt-get install -y python-software-properties
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv 0AA4244A

sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://software.akiban.com/apt-developer/ lucid main"

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install -y postgresql-client
sudo apt-get install -y akiban-server

when do "sudo apt-get update"
then get "Err http://software.akiban.com lucid Release.gpg

It could be that software.akiban.com has been taken down after Akiban joining FoundationDB...

I'm not even sure the product is still supported. Let's see if they reply to this thread.

Hi All,

The product known as Akiban Server is no longer being actively developed or supported. The download site was taken offline a few months back. If you still need them, the installers for the last release are available at the Launchpad archive [1].

Akiban was acquired by FoundationDB earlier this year. You can read more about that in the announcements on the blogs [2][3].

What does that mean for Akiban Server? It was renamed to the FoundationDB SQL Layer and we're still very much working on it! The biggest change is the scalability and fault tolerance of running on top of FoundationDB. We still have all the features we previously introduced (grouping, etc) and have been working hard on cleanup and other enhancements.

This re-incarnation is in private alpha as we work out the rough edges. You can sign up for early access [4] as we roll out new releases.

We've moved the project to GitHub [5] and are still developing in the open. Be sure to keep an eye on the SQL Layer docs [6] and the FoundationDB blog for when it becomes generally available.
