We are pleased to announce the launch of a new Research Topic in Frontiers in Big Data titled:

Data Visualization, Data Storytelling, and Artificial Intelligence for Human-Centered Data Communication

This Research Topic explores how data visualization, narrative techniques, and artificial intelligence can be integrated to design human-centered approaches to data communication, making data meaningful, ethical, and engaging.

We welcome contributions that address, among others:

• AI-assisted data storytelling and narrative visualization

• Explainable and transparent data communication

• Human-in-the-loop systems for data interpretation

• Cognitive and ethical aspects of AI-driven narratives

• Applications in journalism, healthcare, climate, finance, and policy contexts

Important dates:

• Abstract submission deadline: January 31, 2026

• Manuscript submission deadline: April 30, 2026

We invite original research, case studies, design studies, conceptual frameworks, methodological papers, and critical reflections from across disciplines including computer science, HCI, data journalism, cognitive science, design, and communication.
