Workshop on Autonomous Robots for Outdoor Mobility and Exploration (ROAM) @ IAS 2025 Genoa (Italy) https://airlab-polimi.github.io/ROAM/homepage.html

Dates:
Workshop day: June 30th, 2025
Paper submission deadline: April 30th, 2025
Notification of Acceptance: May 10th, 2025

About the workshop
Autonomous robots are increasingly deployed in outdoor environments that are challenging, unsafe, or inaccessible for humans, such as disaster-stricken areas, remote terrains, and agricultural fields. These settings require adaptability to unpredictable terrain, dynamic weather, and unreliable communication. Robots must operate independently for extended periods, often facing risks like hardware failure due to extreme conditions. However, many robotic systems remain overly specialized or struggle outside controlled environments, highlighting a gap between simulations and real-world deployment. This workshop invites contributions that address these challenges, fostering a multidisciplinary discussion on advancing autonomous robotics for demanding outdoor tasks.

Submissions can fall into one of the following categories:
  • Research papers (12 pages including references)
  • Short papers (6 pages including references)

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
  • Field robotics
  • Extreme robotics
  • Autonomous navigation
  • Autonomous monitoring
  • Machine learning
  • Perception
  • Sensor fusion
  • Mapping
  • Planning
  • Symbol Anchoring
  • Symbolic and sub-symbolic integration
  • Manipulation and grasping
  • Long-term autonomy
  • Knowledge Representation and Reasoning for robots
  • Robot Benchmarking

HIGHLIGHTS
The workshop will include a keynote talk by Prof. Sara Bernardini from University of Oxford.

Looking forward to receiving your submissions and see you in Genoa!
