IMPORTANT DATES
Paper Submission Deadline (EXTENDED): 22nd May 2026 (AoE, UTC-12)
Paper Notification: 5th July 2026 (AoE, UTC-12)
Camera Ready: 15th July 2026 (AoE, UTC-12)
SCOPE
This
workshop aims to bring together researchers from the autonomous agents,
robotics, and software engineering communities. Combining knowledge
from these research areas may lead to innovative approaches for tackling
complex real-world problems in autonomous robotic systems. We encourage
submissions that combine agents, robots, software engineering, and
verification. We also welcome papers focused on one of these areas,
provided their applicability to the other areas is explicit.
TOPICS
The main topics include, but are not limited to:
- Agent-based modular architectures applicable to robots
- Agent-oriented software engineering to model high-level control in robotic development
- Agent programming languages and tools for developing robotic or intelligent autonomous systems
- Reliable Agentic AI
- Agentic AI applied in robotic systems
- Coordination, interaction, and negotiation protocols for agents and robots
- Distributed problem-solving and automated planning in autonomous systems
- Engineering reliable interactions between humans and autonomous robots or agents
- Fault tolerance and long-term autonomy
- Neuro-symbolic artificial intelligence
- Real-world applications of autonomous agents and multi-agent systems in robotics
- Runtime verification of autonomous agents and robotic systems
- Task and resource allocation in multi-robot systems
- Verification and validation of autonomous systems
SUBMISSIONS
Papers
must not exceed twelve (12) pages, single column, including references
and appendices. All submissions must be in English and PDF format. Each
submission will receive at least three single-blind reviews. All papers
should be original and not be submitted elsewhere. The review process is
single-blind: submissions should not be blind, reviewers will be.
A paper will be selected for the Best Paper Award based on reviewers' scores and recommendations.
The
AREA workshop will be a hybrid event (in accordance with PAAMS 2026
guidelines). At least one author of each accepted paper has to register
for the host conference (via the PAAMS 2026 website).
The proceedings of the workshop will be published in the Springer CCIS series. Formatting guidelines should follow LNCS style:

The
workshop is a one-day event lasting approximately 8 hours. The event
will include the presentation of accepted papers and two invited talks,
which will be announced at a later date.
