I wish I knew what was causing it too. It also happens when I go into the app library and try to open a folder, instead of a screen with icons of the apps in that folder, I get a totally blank screen with just the iOS status bar at the top. It has behaved this way since the day I got the phone and so far Apple has not been able to help me.

Might be time for a factory reset of your iPhone, it's a bit of work but it should clear up such odd behaviour and if you say you get a blank screen in the app library, then that is definitely odd behaviour not not something I have heard others have experienced.

For odd issues like this with iPhones, I’ve found that going to the app switcher and closing all apps, then turning the phone off for about 30 seconds seems to help. Too many apps open at once does cause strange issues for VO users. Apple says it doesn’t but I don’t think they did the testing with VoiceOver.

Just something to try.

Also, glad to hear people are having good luck with using Aira on their Echo Vision glasses.

I did some perusing of my settings and changed a few things. Then tried the app again once while the glasses were still in their case and inactive, and once while wearing them and both times the blank screen problem did not occur. I figured out that the screen that was popping up with all those activity (thing to do) buttons was the wallet's pay screen because it had the text on it that said to hold the phone near the reader. One of the settings I changed was to turn off double pressing the home button while the phone is locked to call up the pay screen. I'm going to hope that that solves the problem with the EchoVision app though why those settings being on causes a problem is beyond me.

Oh I perused all my settings in the settings app to see if any would jump out at me. The only one that did was that that one screen I would land in was the wallets pay or show tickets screen. Since I don't use wallet, when I found in the settings that double pressing the home button while the phone is locked would bring up the wallet's pay screen, so I disabled that feature. I also changed a few other setting though I don't recall now what they were.

Then I tried the EchoVision app again both while the glasses were inactive and active and both times I landed on the glasses information card, not the blank screen, after canceling the request to pair.

Hopefully that problem is totally squashed, but time will tell.

Hi Buddy!

I just checked and assistive touch is turned off. Since I didn't know exactly what assistive touch was I never turned it on.

> Ah. Yes. That’s what I remember reading. How odd though. Glad it’s working now, at any rate. BTW, if there was a double tap setting for Home that brings up the Apple Pay screen (it’s on the side button on these newer phones with no home button), it might be worth checking that you didn’t turn on Assistive Touch. It’s in Settings > Accessibility > Touch accommodations. One thing that does is to put a programmable virtual button on the screen, which could end up causing. problem if it’s accidentally enabled.
