Today I heard there was a system update, so I launched the EchoVision app on my iPhone. Again it kept prompting me to pair with a BLE device which I kept canceling and every time I ended up on a totally blank screen that I could not escape except by terminating the app in the app switcher. If I do nothing and just sit on the blank screen eventually I get another promt to pair with a BLE device. Finally I decided to pair with the device to stop the constant prompting and as expected all my phone's audio was routed to the glasses, a situation I did not want, even worse I was stuck on a screen that wanted me to voice control, face time call, call, or whatever else I did not want to do. I could not escape this screen, double tapping the home button did not call up the app switcher, pressing the home button did not return me to my phone's home page, I was really stuck. The only thing i could think of to do was to turn off the glasses thus breaking the pair I had just completed which is what brought me here. The first thing I did once control was reestablished was to go into the bluetooth setting and forget the device. Now I get those constant pairing requests again. Finally after a lot of trial and error and fussing around I finally got the system update. after what I just went through I was very disappointed to see that no update of the EchoVision app was part of the update so I expect these problems will continue to plague me.

Also so far the only thing I have been able to do with the glasses themselves is to press the right button to get a sceen description. That's it, heck, I could do that with BeMyAI at far less cost, and BeMyAI allows me to ask questions, something these glasses have yet to do even once. I had high hopes for these glasses, but so far all I can honestly say is that they are yet another huge disappointment.

Hi,

You probably have done the following, but in case you haven't. Have you deleted the app from your phone, and reinstalled the app to start from scratch? I would even go as far as to deleting the app, turning off the phone for about a minute or so. Then after turning on your phone, reinstalling the app. So to make sure any cashe data from the app that might have been left behind. Gets dumped while the phone is off. If you have done so, I do apologize for suggesting the obvious. Because you're the only one with this issue, is the reason that I made the suggestion. If there were others with the same or similar experience, I would agree 100% that AGIGA may need to look into the app. But because of you're the only one reporting such behavior, there must be something that is invoking such isolated behavior. Hoping if by you following the suggestion if you haven't done so yet, does help. If you already done so and still receiving such behavior, I again apologize for an obvious solution.

I just completed doing that, this time I elected to pair the glasses and to my surprise my phone's audio didn't start going to the glasses, perfect! I'm going to leave that alone for now.

Something else I figured out, there's no point in turning off your glasses unless you are out and about and don't have the charging case with you, the reason is because as soon as you put them into the charging case, they turn on.

Now I just heard them saying something while in the case, shouldn't they be in sleep mode while they are in the case?

We'll see how it goes.

By the way, Agiga doesn't tell you this so I will, if you ever forget your password and need to do a password reset, open the password reset email on your phone with the EchoVision app, or it won't work. The link in the email loads a web page which loads the app in password reset mode. It took me puzzling over why it wasn't working when I opened the email on my PC.

You may think, "Well, that's obvious!", and it probably is to someone who is surgically attached to their phone, or addicted to their screen, I am not one of those types of people, my phone is a communication and information device, nothing more. It's easy for me to put down my phone, I'm not married to it. So it was entirely natural and normal for me to turn to my PC to read the password reset email on my PC.

I have definitely recommended that those instructions need to be clarified, because you’re right, they aren’t clear that the password reset is conducted in the app, and only after using a link that you get in email, and only if you open the app by using the link on the page that comes up.

Well, unfortunately it turns out that pairing my phone with the glasses does indeed route all my phone's audio to the glasses at a volume that's way too low, so I unpaired them. And unfortunately this is likely going to cause my troubles with the unresponsive blank screen again. I tried to use the touch panel on the left arm to raise the volume but not only didn't it help much, it left me in a screen with buttons for starting a call, starting a facetime call, and a number of other option. I finally got Voice Over to read some text in the window and it said something like "hold close too the reader" whatever that means. And unfortunately there isn't any simple way to dismiss this screen, there's no app in the app switcher to terminate, and pressing the home button doesn't return me to my home page. The only way I've found so far to escape this screen is to put my glasses back into the case. Something must be done to resolve this because until that happens these glasses are unusable. Pairing to the glasses should be optional, not mandatory as it seems to be right now.

Gene, can you make sure you don't accidently have screen recognition turned on for the EchoVision app? That can and will really mess things up for apps which are otherwise accessible.
I have an iPhone 16 Pro, but as far as the EchoVision app is concerned, that should not make a difference and I never have a problem to just tap the cancel button when the Bluetooth pairing request comes up and the request goes away and I can do whatever I want in the app.

Did the message you saw say "Hold near reader"? If so then you somehow brought up the Apple Pay screen which on my iPhone 16 Pro I get if I double press the side button (not sure if that is different on a phone with a home button).

Also, and please don't get this the wrong way, but I am curious why you even open the EchoVision app so often, now that I set up my glasses, I haven't touched it since the last time I heard there was an update because for the most part that is the only reason I would need the app right now since it is not required for the glasses to do their thing.

According to settings, the only app screen recognition is turned on for is the MyCC app for Consumer Cellular.
