I have a simple solution, no more replies to somebody who makes a mountain out of an ant hill, and the problem is solved.
I have business contacts who still spell my name wrong after having known me for years, so what.

Hopefully this thread will be locked by whoever is running this list soon so we can get back to what’s actually important and why we’re all on this list to begin with.

That is not a minor deal.  You grow up.  If you do not wish to make sure that you spell names correctly, then you have a lot to learn missy.

Haylie and James,

Both of you please cut it out. There is not room on this list for a shouting match. Hailie, I agree people should spell your name correctly. However, there are several different versions of Haylie and even if someone doesn’t spell your name correctly, don’t fall into the trap of taking things so personal. You would be surprised how many different ways I encounter misspelling Michael. UFTA!

James, also please stop this. We all are trying to learn and contribute to the EchoVision system. We don’t need fighting.

And, if either of you think I am not minding my own business, getting good constructive content on this list is everyone’s business.

Best Regards,

Michael Hingson

I am not upset because you didn’t know what HTY meant. I didn’t mean to type that or send it. I’m simply saying my headphone went dead. And I was asking the original Haley to be nice to Jean because we all don’t have computer skills like maybe Haley does or does not.

Excuse me, It doesn’t mean anything. My headphone died before I knew it died. You need to be nicer. I don’t know, Jean. I don’t know how old Jean is. But it doesn’t matter not everybody was born in the age of computers. Some of us were born long before computers had even been thought of. If you want to make fun of people, let’s make fun of the young people who don’t even know how to dial a phone with buttons on it. Be nice and stop being a jerk.

Haylie,

It sounds more like you like to make wild and unfounded assumptions about things you know nothing about. Shame on you!

For your information I have read the user's guide numerous times trying to figure out if I am doing anything wrong and I am following all the instructions as they are written. Yesterday, when my glasses arrived, I had no trouble completing the initial set up. Then today I had no trouble setting up my phone's hotspot and connecting my glasses to it. Then when I started actually trying to use the glasses, that is when the problems began. I kept going back to the users guide to see if I was missing anything but found that I was following their instructions, minimal and vague as they are.

I contacted support and they said that they were able to reproduce the problems I was reporting and then told me how to send the diagnostic data they needed. At least they aren't making wild and unfounded assumptions like you.

The next time you feel like making assumptions about other people you know nothing about, try just keeping your big mouth shut! Shame on you!

I saw nothing about a second listing with "BLE" in the name even if that is specifically mentioned in the user's guide. Maybe I simply missed it and after connecting more or less accidentally to the right connection the other one went away, I can't say for sure, but even now when I forget the glasses and pair them again, I only see one instance of the glasses.
> > > Also, just because some features/information is missing does not mean that what is there is incorrect or not good information. So far I found whatever is in the user's guide works as advertised. I totally agree that for example triple pressing the power/camera button has to be added and in time maybe there should be information about things like the wear detection although this could be explained with a single line below the actual control as it is often done with iPhone settings. The user's guide at this stage focuses on the actual glasses and not on what is in the app because there is also nothing in the user's guide about connecting to Air and Be My Eyes and while again it's pretty straight forward, I agree that a section describing what all can be done in the app should be added.

In a section about using your glasses as headphones or a headset, it specifically says that you should pair  with the bluetooth connection with a name that doesn't have the BLE in it. That tells me there must be two bluetooth channels, one low energy and one not.

Hopefully Buddy or somebody from Agiga can chime in here and explain how it should be. Of course it would also be helpful what others see. When I pressed the AI button 6 times which the glasses correctly confirmed started Bluetooth pairing, I went to Bluetooth settings on my iPhone, the glasses were at the bottom and I tapped on them and they paired. I then renamed them "EchoVision Glasses" and specified that they were a headset and that is all I had.

The other is for audio to and from the glasses so you can use them as headphones or a headset, that one will not have BLE in it's name. Which one is still connected? It's probably the control channel and that is why your phone's audio is still coming through your phone.

You said it. You wouldn't believe how often I have to tell people how to spell my name, they all want to spell it as Jean. It has never bothered me because I know that both spellings could be correct. The only reason I even bother to correct them is because how my name is spelled could effect the outcome, as in a background check or login credentials. Other wise taking the time to correct them isn't worth the effort.

I may be very unhappy now with how things are going with my glasses, but I'll keep working at it in the hope that I will eventually figure out what I'm doing wrong. I am not a techknology beginner having started my career as a computer technician and customer support way back in 1980. I suspect my problem is the very limited documentation that is available. Hopefully that will change.

Hi Gene,

FROM YOUR MESSAGE BELOW THIS AND THE TWO OTHER MESSAGES DIRECTLY BELOW YOURS, I CAN GET NO SENSE OF WHAT YOUR BLUETOOTH PROBLEM IS.

Go AHEAD.

TELL IT LIKE IT IS.

Boy what a mess that turned into, I just kept hitting delete on messages from those two.

My bluetooth problem is that When I launch the EchoVision app on my iPhone, I get a request to pair with the glasses low energy channel which it is my understanding I'm not supposed to pair with so I cancel the pair request. This then leaves me with a totally blank and unresponsive screen, the only thing on it is the iOS status bar at the top of the screen. I eventually have to terminate the app in the app switcher. The next time I run the app I again get the request to pair from the low energy channel which I again cancel, this time though instead of that totally blank screen, I get the app's home screen and it behaves normally.

Buddy said that even though the request looked like it was for the low energy channel, it is actually for the data channel and that if I pair with it I would pair with the data channel and all the phone's audio out would go to the glasses, that's not what I want, I want the phone's output to come from the phone and the AI's output to come through the glasses.

Gene,
I do not believe that how you want audio to work when the glasses are connected will work with these or similar types of glasses. To the best of my understanding, these function as a connected headset so all audio output goes to the glasses. Also, I am curious about why you would want the audio output to be separated this way.

It will work like that. Just don't pair them as a Bluetooth device to your phone. You will not or should not get any audio from your phone through the glasses with the BLE pairing if it asks for you to pair them that way. I actually went in and removed that connection on my iPhone and paired with the correct one in the manual to get audio from my phone through the glasses.

Buddy told me that even though it is saying that the pairing request is coming from the low energy channel, it is actually for the primary data channel which will carry the phone's audio.

I don't want the phone's audio mixing it up with Agiga's AI. So I will always cancel those pairing requests.

Gene, if you don’t want any of the audio from your iPhone to come through the classes, then just don’t pair them. You also mentioned that pairing request pops up, are you saying this is happening automatically? I i’m not sure why this would happen, it certainly did not for me, I had to press the AI button six times to put the glasses into Bluetooth pairing mode and then I saw them at the bottom of my Bluetooth devices list and after I tapped on them they connected. If it pops up automatically, maybe just connect to them and then go into settings and Bluetooth on your iPhone tap on the more info button after your glasses entry and forget the device, then it really should not come up automatically anymore.
In a way the fact that the glasses use the personal hotspot feature on the iPhone to connect when not connected to a Wi-Fi, makes it more flexible because with models like the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, where all the connection to the outside world is via Bluetooth and through the phone, you don’t even have a choice, but to pair them and to then have your iPhones audio coming through the classes.
I do also find that a giga seems to have managed to implement the Bluetooth connection quite well as I noticed much less of a delay as with my Ray-Ban Meta glasses.

Yes, the pairing requests pop up whenever I run the EchoVision app. Why should I need to forget a device I have never paired in the first place? Won't forgetting the device just leave me where I am now?

One thing I have done, since there is no documentation for the feature, I turned off wearer detection. Should Agiga decide to document the feature sometime later, I may decide to turn it back on. But for now, I don't want an undocumented feature getting in the way.

Gene, I wonder if you have even connected the glasses to your Wi-Fi because if you say this pops up whenever you open the EchoVision app it almost sounds like it wants to do the initial connection to the glasses. Again, I'm just guessing here, but even before I paired the glasses to my phone's Bluetooth, nothing ever popped up automatically except the initial request to set up the glasses when I received them. I also don't recall anybody else saying that a request for Bluetooth pairing came up automatically. In fact, even when I opened Settings > Bluetooth on my iPhone, I had to press the AI button jon the glasses 6 timnes to get them to go into pairing mode. I read in the user's guide that you may have to do this so I thought I check first, but the glasses did not show up by themselves, but after I pressed the AI button 6 times the did right away as one would expect from any Bluetooth speaker or headset.
Maybe you should call Agiga or set up a time when somebody can call you to try and figure out what's different for you. I, by the way, have the wear detection on and it does not do anything negative as far as I can tell.

Hi Sieghard,

YOU WROTE;

I, by the way, have the wear detection on and it does not do anything negative as far as I can tell.".

What IS THE WEAR DETECTION?

Thanks,

My glasses connected to my home WiFi and my phone's hotspot with no problems. The EchoVision app connected to my glasses again with no problem. It was after that that I started getting the request to pair every time I launch the EchoVision app. And to the idea that I'm supposed to pair that connection, if that's true, why isn't there any mention of that in the user's guide? I'm more inclined to believe that the app is causing it and that it is not supposed to be happening. Routing your phone's audio seems to me to be an option, not a requirement.

Wearer detection is an undocumented feature that is supposed to detect when the glasses are being worn, in an email Agiga told me that the feature is not yet finished as they still have problems with it not detecting being worn sometimes. For those reasons I decided to turn it off.

Hi Gene and others,

I have to take back what I said yesterday about not being prompted to connect to Bluetooth. When I first got the glasses, I was not, but then connected to them manually, but decided yesterday that I would prefer for now not to have them connected and have voiceover come through the glasses. I went to settings, Bluetooth and tapped on “ forget device” and after I did that and opened the app, I was also then prompted to connect to Bluetooth. A tapped on cancel and that took care of it, I was then in the app, but now each time I opened the app I am asked to connect, and I have to tap cancel. That obviously needs to be addressed. I am curious if others who have not connected the glasses to their iPhone via Bluetooth also experience this. Obviously, you don’t really need the app all that often, but still, this should not be as it is. I should mention that apart from this the glasses for the most part work fine, I especially like the reading mode, which works great. I have not yet connected them to my personal hotspot and used them away from my home or work Wi-Fi. As for the most recent update, that failed for me I think three or four times before it finally installed.

Where detection is in the app and I guess you can call it on documented since it is not explained in the user guide, but to me at least it is also very self-explanatory.
I guess all features in the app are undocumented since the user guide focusses at this point only on operating and working with the classes and not on the app which really is only necessary for the initial set up. You could probably happily use the glasses for weeks without ever opening the app, of course there is also the fact that updates are being released and that you need the app for those. I do like how yesterday when I opened the app, I was immediately informed that an update was available, even though it took a few tries for the installation to go all the way through.

Interesting, there was an update available when I got my glasses and other than it taking a while, there seemed to be no problems.

So are you saying that you don't believe anything other than what you experience? I agree that wearer detection is self explanitory, but what exactly does it do when it detects being worn or being taken off. What does or doesn't happen if it is off. Sure the glasses can detect when they are being worn, but what does it do with that information?

Have had my glasses since Tuesday and have only been playing with them for a couple of days now and so far, I haven't gotten that prompt to connect to bluetooth. I never tried getting VO to come through the glasses. Same behavior after installing yestreday's 12/19/25 update

Cristóbal, I didn't get the prompt to connect to Bluetooth either until I manually connected and then later decided for now I didn't want the phone's audio coming through the glasses and tapped on Forget Device.
Now I also am asked to connect to Bluetooth each time I open the app. I assume this will be fixed sooner or later so for now I just tap cancel and do what I want to do. Anyways, unless there is an update or I want to connect the glasses to an external Bluetooth speaker I don't really need the ap at this point.

Hello Gene,

I don't doubt your experience, but while I now have the prompt to connect to Bluetooth each time I open the app, I have not had any issues to just tap on cancel and get rid of the message and to then do whatever I may want to do in the app.
I did not experience what you described with the screen going blank etc.
The main reason why for now I didn't want my iPhone's audio to come through the glasses is because if my glasses were in their case and I opened the app, my iPhone's audio would disappear and get routed to the glasses. This of course should not happen because if the glasses have their arms folded and are in the case, they should be in sleep mode and not grab my iPhone's audio.
As for wear detection, I can certainly understand if they say this feature is still being perfected because it should be quite simple and do what it does on other devices which have this feature such as AirPods, other Bluetooth headsets or even the Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
In short, if your iPhone is connected via Bluetooth and you wear the glasses, then Voiceover audio and other audio such as music or an audio book playing should come through the glasses speakers.
If you remove the glasses it should detect that you have done so and any audio like music or audio books should stop if it was playing and Voiceover should be routed back to the iPhone.
Similarly, if you were on a phone call and you removed the glasses, the call should be routed back to the iPhone.
I should mention that my Ray-Ban Meta glasses don't actually route Voiceover back to the iPhone if you simply take them off, but they do so immediately if you fold the arms.
Any other audio like music or if I am playing a book in Audible stops as soon as I remove the glasses even if the arms are not folded and as soon as I put the glasses back on it automatically resumes.
Let's hope Agiga can fix the wear detection feature to work in that way. If you wanted to hear music or an audio book through the glasses but not Voiceover, you can accomplish this by selecting "Speaker" as the device type in Bluetooth settings on your iPhone and if you want any audio including Voiceover to come through the glasses, then select the device type as "Headset".
The main fix which has to be implemented is to make sure that if the arms are folded the glasses are going to sleep or are in stand-by mode and don't grab Voiceover from the iPhone.
But from what I understand Agiga is aware that this is currently quite flaky including suddenly hearing "Removed" when you are wearing the glasses as if you just took them off.
