Hi y’all,

We’d like to gather some user esperience hre.

What accessories have you found to be useful with your smart glasses? Doesn’t matter if we’re talking about EchoVision or some other brand, most of the sort of thing I’m thinking about should be useful with EchoVision as well, excepting of course for things like proprietary charge cables. One example is the neck-worn power bank generall designed for the Meta Quest headsets. A reasonably priced, useful extension to our glasses, if not exactly the height of fashion. Other examples would be straps to facilitate better fit and to keep the glasses on our heads. I’m sure there are things I’m missing and that there are very creative people out there who have great ideas. So let’s hear ‘em. Eventually, I envision a resources page on Agiga’s website where we list these useful accessories with direct links to purchase.

So? What say y’all? Give us your best stuff.

Great Buddy, how do I get the right size of Agiga glasses when I finally get them? Bob

I don't have that much experience with smart glasses, but considering battery capacity and power hungry modes like live AI, I would think that the most wanted accessory would be an external battery pack.

Bob, I think the echovision glasses come with  3 differents sizes of  silicon nose pads.

This should help to give the glasses     some size variation  with a better fit.

Actually, I think he's talking about frame size. Unfortunately I don't remember what the available options are.

If I remember correctly, there is only one frame size available for now. You can choose different types of lenses.

You might be right, I would have sworn I recall needing to select a frame size but that could be from when I preordered the Envision Ally Solos glasses which I later returned.

There are a variety of nose pads included for a fit for different faces.

I bought an adjustable lanyard at the Sun Glass hut where I  bought my Meta Ray-Ban glasses. It goes around the back of your head and works well for keeping the glasses securely in place on my face. This may not be needed as much if the EchoVision glasses come with different nose pads that help the glasses from sliding down on your face.

I know, even the Ally Solos glasses came with those, however; nose pads of different sizes can't make up for frames that are too small or too large for your head and face. My one and only complaint about my Bose Frames Tempo glasses are that they are just a little bit too small for my head. I have to pull the arms a little further apart than the frame was designed for to put them on. That is why I don't use them as much as I would have liked to. IA few extra millimeters between the left and right hinges would have made a big difference. Nose pads won't fix that problem.

Gene, you are right about that. I’m unfamiliar with other smart glasses. Two years ago I was diagnosed with eye disease. Over the past two years my vision has declined significantly. EchoVision will be my only experience with smart glasses. I checked into others but they are so expensive. My family all chipped in to buy me these. Can’t wait to get them.

I lost my vision about twelve years ago. So I have been watching the smart glasses market and passed on everything for one reason or another until Envision announced their Ally Solos glasses and Agiga announced their EchoVision glasses. First I chose Envision Ally Solos but as people started getting their glasses and the reports of problems started surfacing I got real nervous about my choice, when I checked out the EchoVision glasses I noticed that I could still preorder them to get the preorder bonuses so I did. And boy am I glad I did, the Ally Solos glasses turned out to be a huge disappointment, so I returned them for a refund. The more I hear about EchoVision and the more I see how Agiga is managing things, the more I believe that preordering their glasses was the right choice. I am eagerly awaiting for my glasses to arrive. Even though I didn't think I had any chance at all to get into the program, I responded to the Pioneer's edition request email as soon as it arrived and to my surprise, I got in! Agiga sent me an email saying that I could expect my glasses to arrive sometime between December 10th and 20th. The window is almost here!

Something else that helps keep the glasses in place that Ally Solos glasses had is that the area on the arms that hook over your ears is rubberised, just like the nose pads.

I would like to see custom molded or 3D printed side shields that can be tinted. Or the magnetic sunglasses that have a side shield built in. There would have to be holes to be able to reach the buttons and touch sensitive area on the arms.
At least for the physical buttons, you could have them molded into the side shields. Kind of like how a smartphone protective case has them.

For the pioneer, I’m under the impression, that there is just one style.   Nose pads won’t likely adjust as well as I would ultimately.  But, if I can indeed test the Pioneer Edition, I’ll make do.

I will look forward to the smaller frame though on the final product.

I think that the first edition of the EchoVision glasses will be the same basic design as the Pioneer's edition, and that for subsequent versions of the glasses there will be a selection of styles to choose from.

I’m trying to not set my expectations too high. That way, I don’t get disappointed if I don’t like them. Everything that I’ve heard about EchoVision, so far, has really intrigued me. My window is December 1-10. Haven’t gotten email about them shipping out yet. So I’m trying to be very patient. At the same time, I’m eager to get my hands on them. I will definitely let everyone know when I get them and about my experience with them.

I think it would be neat to have the Skyler frames as a choice.
So another words the meta glasses I have they’re the Skyler ones.
And it’s just the regular lenses no prescription lenses since all I have is light perception in my left eye.

I would recommend that you offer a care protection plan which would include subject to a deductible replacement in case the glasses are damaged (including accidental damage), lost, or stolen. I am sure there would need to have some reasonable limits placed on the plan such as number of claims in a year, Etc. Ideally, the plan should offer a quick exchange of the glasses if repairs are needed, thereby limiting the amount of time the user would experience without the glasses.

I'm an old software developer.

I thrive on breaking things to find out what needs to be mitigated! So there is nothing malicious intended. I know there's others here though, whom will certainly provide great feedback to Agiga whom I have known throughout the years.

Since somehow my response form seems to never have entered the system, I'll have to likely sit back and watch.

Still, although I do appreciate mainstreamed products that blind and visually impaired persons can use off the shelf. However, there are just some aspects, that I doubt Meta will implement to the extent that will fully support our being as productive as is possible through utilizing smart glasses.

For many, yes, Meta will satisfy their needs.

But one very high point here, is how AI is being implemented by Agiga for OCR and for other more detail, that we do need.

I do have a pair of the Skylar Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses.

Even though, n some instances, those of us who don't have other resources whom are immediately available and whom don't totally feel comfortable with an unknown party with having access to our information, this is the game changer for me. From the comments so far, it seems that Agiga is already on the right track, which I applaud and so appreciate Agiga, for their ethical decisions which involves being responsible and to release a product that isn't just half there in its development phase.

Jenny, obviously Agiga has the final say about this, but I am sure they can’t simply use/copy the frame from a set of Ray-Ban glasses because they would be in a world of trouble regarding infringement on probably all sorts of trademarks, patents etc.

They already indicated that down the road there will be more of a choice regarding frame sizes and maybe styles, but for now it is what it is and being in the first group to get and test them may come with a few inconveniences.

It’s not my intent to cause issues between companies.
I was just saying that since that’s the kind of frame I have.
And actually, I had forgotten about how there would be more styles that’s why I don’t wanna get the pioneer ones. I wanna wait until lots of Blind folks that had lots of practiced with them.
I think it’s wonderful though that these glasses are made by a blind people in this company has the blind in mind so it understands where the blind community is coming from and our needs.
And I’m very glad Buddy asked us to give suggestions as well.

Amanda, I couldn’t agree with you more. I have a pair of the metas, which I bought last year on sale when all the hype was hitting. I have used them. I find them to be really kind of a pain and I can do as well with my phone. Sometimes better. I did at the last minute pre-order the echo visions. Not the pioneers. I know they’re more expensive, but I really feel like if this company can’t get it done right, then it’s not going to happen. I will never believe that something mass market designed for the cited will do as efficiently as a product designed specifically for us. There’s a lot that Meta can do that I frankly will not ever care about. So I took a chance. Money does not grow on trees on a retirement budget, but I’m really hoping that these things overtime will fill the bill. i’m not wild about the hotspot thing, but I’m willing to deal with it if necessary in order to get what looks to me like it’s going to be the best experience once these things are on the street for a while. I’m totally not impressed with the ally app on my phone. so I was never interested in those other glasses. But different strokes for different folks.

Hi Mary,

I'm so glad, that you are onboard with this product.

I believe there is mis-understanding, concerning how WiFi in general is implemented. Your cellphone should already offer the capability to tether or to connect to another device. Or, to use as a hotspot.

Shhhh one time while I was working remotely, the power went out in my home due to a storm.

So, I just tethered my laptop to my phone and vwala! I didn't lose much work downtime. The speed was reliable and I got my job done.

You will also find, that connecting via your hotspot from your phone, will not be subject to being throttled back in terms of speed if you go over a certain useage threshold. For me, that is a win!

Before now, whenever I was using a cellphone for certain applications, would always defer to WiFi whenever possible, because it is faster through your own internet connection.

We both know, that in the past, that the developers of certain Adaptive Technology would inherently have a very narrow focus and yes, the product that we were afforded, did serve us reasonably. Still, they didn't think beyond the box. They designed and developed within a very limited range of expectations.

I truly do not get the impression, that Agiga has this type of mindset. From hearing the amazing presentations that I have heard so far, I so appreciate this team of brilliant and innovative developers.

They had a plan initially. Then, they listened and they chose to dig deeper into the realm of possibilities and even though I know the delays have been costly, they truly are focused upon delivering a quality product.

Well, to be honest, my issue with hotspot is simply that I don’t have it on my plan. We have a senior plan that we’ve had for a long time through T-Mobile. My husband had the hotspot on his phone, because he needed it sometimes when he was still working, and we would go to the coast every summer and he would use that hotspot to get videos. The Wi-Fi on the Oregon coast where we stayed was crummy, not too good for videos. So I can get the hotspot and it will cost me an extra 10 bucks a month I believe. Doesn’t break the bank of course, but everything adds up. But I think they’re fairly easy to activate and all that. The hotspot certainly worked for him, so I expect it would work for me. I’m just liking to keep it simple stupid if possible.

One thing I want to clarify:

While we appreciate accessory manufacturing suggestions, what I’m looking for at the moment are links to useful accessories that are already out there.

As to a source for cables with right angle plugs, I’m fairly certain that Anker sells some. I’ve gotten a whole pile of ‘em off eBay, of course with varying quality. I hate their website, but Titan Plus cables are sturdy, have a lifetime replacement guarantee, and are of good quality. Although, they ship via slow boat from China. And you only get a decent price on them if you buy them in multiples.

I’m waiting for some other cables that have connectors that bend 180 degrees, so should have flexible installations. If I like them, I’ll put a link up for them.

The one big thing I'm going to remember is that the Pioneer's edition is just Agiga's way of indicating that these are beta test versions which means that some features may not always work as expected or may not yet be present. Seems to me that that is what Envision should have done.

To determine that you'd need to have the mAh capacity of the batteries in the glasses and the external battery. The external battery is easy, it's 10,000 mAh. I do not know what the battery capacity of the Meta glasses is mainly because I have zero interest in them.

I believe that a successful business should always disclose any faults in their equipment. Guarantee to fix problem and make customers satisfied and believing in the company. I believe Agiga is doing just that. They are truly transparent about their product and dedicated to providing a much needed product for blind and low vision community.

Those are often called extended warranties. I have always been careful enough with my technology that I have never felt the need to buy them. But that's just me.

I am sure there would need to have some reasonable limits placed on the plan such as number of claims in a year, Etc. Ideally, the plan should offer a quick exchange of the glasses if repairs are needed, thereby limiting the amount of time the user would experience without the glasses.

The reason why I initially chose the Ally Solos glasses is because I thought that their approach of offloading all the heavy lifting to your phone and taking advantage of its connectivity made a lot of sense. Unfortunately the Ally AI and or the Ally app just weren't up to the task, and that dragged down the glasses with them.

I like the way Consumer Cellular handles hot spots. Your accounts data allotment ican be used directly, or through your phone's hottspot. And if you have their smart flex feature enabled, should you ever go over your data allotment, you'll just be bumped up to the next level plan. There are no fees for this, you just pay for the new plan as if that had been your plan all along. So you aren't penalized for going over your plan.

Hi Mary, do you have a link that I can use to read about the glasses and buy them?

Tom,

You can go to Agiga's web site to read about the EchoVision glasses. Their web site address is https://agiga.ai
But unfortunately preorder sales of the glasses is closed until they start selling the finished product, sometime early next year if I am understanding what I am reading and hearing correctly.
