Hi,
I have had the glasses for 10 days or so.  I have made some comments in
the "Pioneers User Group" (Google group) AGIGA has set up.  It seems
like that group would be a better place to share experiences and/or
problems than this one which is somewhat cluttered with non testing
related concerns.

My main recommendation would be to read the entire user guide very
carefully and completely.  There is very useful information in there.
Otherwise you will encounter some confusing aspects of how the glasses
are controlled.

Some brief comments for now:
1) When they are working, the Action button (one press on right arm
button) and the Live AI (two presses) work very well.  The reading mode
(3 presses) is excellent.  I opened a book and asked to read it.  I
thought I would get just the one right hand page I was looking at.  But,
after some instructions to move left, up, etc from the glasses, both
pages were read.  I can see a bit and followed alone.  I did not detect
any mistakes in hundreds of words.

2) On the other hand, I have experienced very flaky behavior often. I
hesitate to say much except this:  Keep your glasses well charged.  With
battery levels under 50% there was more odd behaviors.  And, be sure you
have a very sold vi-fi signal.   None of my other devices have any
issues but the glasses seem to cut in and out if not very near an access
point.

3) For low vision users not always using Voiceover but instead larger
fonts:  Information on the app home page when the glasses are connected
gets cut off.  On the page to enter the wi-fi password, the keyboard
partially covers the "connect" button.

4) Be careful when you use the left arm to adjust the volume.  It is
easy to instead have the glasses sense that as a tap which can mute the
voice.

5) There are many aspects of the app that are not documented.  I will
provide AGIGA a list of those.

Despite these issues and others, when the glasses are working well they
are great.

I hope everyone has a good experiences testing the glasses.  But keep in
mind they are a beta version with "rough edges" to get worked out.

Hi Bob,
As a non-pioneer who has pre-ordered, I can understand why you want to take this to a different group for only pioneers. The very important downside to this, at least for my point of view, is that those of us who have pre-ordered are going to learn a whole lot from what you guys say about the glasses and how the interactions go. So I frankly think there should be one list for discussion about these glasses,. Period. Maybe there’s too much side talk going on that really isn’t relevant to the list, like oh I don’t know, people wondering what carrier the glasses are shipping by or when are you getting yours versus when am I getting mine. Those are surely not concerns of anybody but the specific pioneerpeople who have ordered the glasses. So maybe that’s what needs to go somewhere else. Just my opinion.

Gene, I do not think there is a separate list for pioneers.

I think this is the full meal deal

There certainly is a Pioneers mailing list for sharing testing
experience.  I have posted several times to it.  You will be invited to
join when you get your glasses.

This list is *way* too cluttered with "when will I get my glasses",
FedEx issues, etc.  It certainly provides useful info for general
questions about the glasses but not as a forum for experiences when
testing the glasses.

Hi all,

I want to second Mary’s opinion. Bob, I completely get where you’re coming from. All the ancillary traffic on this list makes me crazy. I’ve thought about unsubscribing, but want to glean whatever useful info I can.

I tried to sign up for the pioneers program, but there was some kind of snafu on Agiga’s end, and I didn’t get in. I’m very disappointed about that, but would at least like to hear about the experiences of those who are in the program. So I would respectfully request that there not be a separate pioneers list.

And as for the rest of you, would you please take your discussions of FedEx, UPS, porch pirates, and robo-calls off-list? That isn’t what we’re here for.
Best,
Donna

Actually those of us who are awaiting our glasses are concerned about shipping and issues with shipping. Maybe you are not and that’s ok too. We should never belittle anyone for wanting to ask questions or talking about their concerns. One person’s opinion is not less or more important than the other person’s opinions.

If we were talking about shipping in general, I'd agree with you, but we are talking about Agiga's shipment of our glasses, so I believe that our discussions are very relevant to this list. Or is this just sour grapes because you didn't get into the Pioneer's edition program?

I hear you Mary.

However, remember since these are beta issues. The mainstream typically won't react as favorably towards beta issues and tend to internalize those issues as flaws. This isn't positive towards the product, as the developers deserve to have the opportunity to resolve beta issues.

What would be perhaps a good response from agiga, is that when they have addressed a number of major fixes, then post them here. This would mitigate the typical negativity which emerges from persons, whom are not typical testers and are users, to keep important/relevant information posted to potential users of the product.

I have participated in a number of beta groups over the years. When certain issues were discovered, I certainly would not want the general user population to know about them. This is because the developers resolved these issues in due time. If negative statements and claims of flaws were released to the general user population, then this proves only to create negativity towards the product.

I personally wish, that all Pioneer users were required to sign an NDA.

The separate Pioneer list should be where bugs and issues are discussed and only there.

Otherwise, we're going to experience an unnecessary level of complaining and clamoring over insecurity towards the product.

When one is provided with a pre-production product to 'test' that is what they are asked to do.

What I would consider to be positive and useful from Pioneer users is, that they will share about features but remember, that if they find bugs, those should be reported where they should be and, unless Agiga indicates this list is definitely a 'free for all' forum then bugs which will be resolved, still, I should hope really do not need to be reported here.

DJ,

opinion has absolutely nothing to do with this. The best way to get information about the shipping of your glasses is by contacting Agiga, not cluttering an email list.

If you want to talk about polluting the list, messages like yours are far more polluting than messages about our glasses being shipped and when we will get them. So practice what you preach!
