Friends,

The Bergen Society formed a task force to evaluate all the issues relating to reopening our building for in-person meetings, including Platforms.  The task force is made up of two physicians (one an infectious disease doctor, another a public health expert), one Ph.D. biologist, one Ph.D. biomedical statistician, and a few lay members.  They will be presenting an interim report at this Sunday's Zoom 11:00 am Platform which will be recorded and posted shortly thereafter.

I know there is a lot of discussion within the movement on this issue so I wanted to bring it to your attention.  If you wish to join live the Zoom link is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88665035545?pwd=TCt3L0h5R0loYnNjNzVWeDBCaTA4QT09 and I will send out the link to the recording when it's available.

Thank you, David.  I look forward to see the recording when it is available.  Austin has decided to stay virtual through the end of the year (we rent our meeting space), but this will be helpful for making a decision about January.

Best,

Carolyn A. Parker
President/Ethical Society of Austin

Hi Carolyn,

We too are almost certainly to stay virtual through the end of the year but have begun some outdoor events with small numbers of people.  We had one on our front lawn and will be having one more like that this weekend.  We also started doing some "backyard socials" at people's homes - they're outside, small groups (max of 8 people) and limits on what foods can be served, and with rules about bathroom usage.  They've been a success with some people who are really needing to get out of the house.   I can send you details if you're interested.

Yes, do send those details, David.  Our meeting space actually has a large outside area (with community garden) so we might--when the weather cools--be able to do an outdoor meeting.

Thanks,

c
