to ADL xAPI Community of Practice & Profiles Group
Hi all,

During the course of DISC’s engagement with y’all among other practitioners, developers and stakeholders, it became clear that addressing Profiles is a higher priority for the community than the work on professional certification requirements research, which DISC was slated to begin.

A formal, specified approach to creating, distributing and curating profiles will have material impact on any professional certification program. As an LRS functional certification is slated to begin in 2017, as is the USDoDI, establishing a repeatable, scalable approach to xAPI Profiles best supports semantic interoperability and the time to address it is now. So, starting April 3 through July 11, DISC will hold Profile Working Group meetings on Tuesdays at 11am Eastern. The Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative encourages all to participate in this open and collaborative process.

The effort is significant and the opportunities are ripe to strengthen semantic interoperability, decrease the difficulty in applying best practices with xAPI out of the gate for practitioners and developers and analysts.

A webinar kicking off this xAPI conformance requirements project’s activities will be on Monday, March 27 at 11am Eastern. You can register for the webinar at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/413892841719670274

Cheers,
