Hi All,

I'm supporting an upcoming book chapter on analytics with a focus on corporate training. I know there are several use cases out there, but if you're interested in sharing your specific use case (or one of your client's success stories) in this book please send me a message with the following info:

Use Case Title:
Audience:
Date Started:
Number of Users:
Online Link or Paper (if published):
Point of Contact:
Email:
Website:

The author might want to also follow up with you to discuss your use case. Thanks in advance!

Regards,

J Haag

I'm still working on putting together a whitepaper, do you know if this person is still looking for case studies?

Please submit if you have something. The book chapter opportunity passed, but I'm going to put together a report or article in the near future on various xAPI case studies.

Thanks,

J Haag

Oh - I was just wanting to see your work.  I don't currently have any use cases.

Thanks

Hi Jason,

I am sure you would already have amazing case studies.

But I find this one interesting, not sure if you are already aware:
https://prescott.erau.edu/features/revolutionizing-pilot-training-in-prescott

They are using xAPI with flight simulators for flight trainings at Embry-Riddle Prescott. They use GrassBlade LRS and I have worked with them for integrating and reporting for them. If you want I can connect you with Ray Bédard, Aviation faculty member there who has designed the program.

Are you interested in cases that should have been solved by xAPI or things that were actually solved by xAPI?

I'm working on a long list of the latter at the moment. Main reason they're not xAPI being the lack of clients with LRS.

The obvious is collection of question-by-question data (including useful stuff to analyse like response time, exact response, interaction type, score, attempts.

Another group of things is retrieval of previous attempts (e.g. to restore a question state, to reflect on earlier inputs).

Thanks for doing this... I am sure it will be good info!  If there is anything I can do to help, I would be happy to help.

OK, here is a list of headlines from my doc (the full thing contains client-confidential info about where we've implemented)
  • Easy / standard remembering of question/interaction states
  • Question-by-question assessment reporting
  • Multi-variable tracking / save state (for games and simulations)
  • Enhanced question mechanic + metrics (timer / confidence / difficulty level...)
  • Scoreboards - personal and group (High-scores / score/attempt history)
  • In-line user feedback (e.g. pop-up 'how are you finding this?')
  • Surveys (including - immediate feedback)
  • Pathways / Milestones / badges (freeform addition of xAPI statement so that learning pathways can be tracked)
  • Pre-post test / self-assessment comparisions
  • Pre-requisite (external) based unlocking
  • Learning log
  • Content rating
  • Personal User Bookmarks / annotations

One of the interesting things here is the melding of things that LMSs do vs things SCOs do - an artificial barrier that has driven some slightly bizarre experiences/implementations.
