Hi All,

From our next meeting i.e. 3rd of July, 2017. We have a change in meeting venue. We will no longer use Join.me for meeting.

Join.me was working fine for us but the decision was prompted by few different reasons:
1. Our second year's subscription was coming to an end, and needed renewal.
2. Arrogance of Join.me sales guy.
3. We have not gone over 10 participants in last two years, so Google Hangouts on Air might be enough for our needs.

So, I decided to save some bucks for a better charity ;)

Now, we are moving to Google Hangouts on Air via YouTube Live (unless someone has an objection with good reasoning), but I haven't used it before for such meetings.

I did some tests and everything looks straight forward.

If anyone has experience and can give me few minutes of their time, it will help a lot.

Primary confusion is about the meeting link that I should send out. It looks like there are two links that can be shared. 1. YouTube Live link. 2. Hangouts invite link.

I have created an event and YouTube live link is available. But looks like it only allows people to watch the meeting but not to join the meeting.

And, it also looks like we will not have a Hangout invite link till I start the Hangout just before the meeting, is that correct?

Thanks all. By the way, I will leak a big news, we have made a huge progress on a prototype (thanks to Jason Haag and Jon Kevan)

Hi Pankaj:

I use the free Zoom.us service for many meetings and have attended many in Zoom as well.

I Google hangouts is great, but I find the ease of use and ability to have 10’s of people in recurring meetings with better meeting control, as well as email integration to be far better focused on professional level meetings.

Google Hangouts is more suited for a broadcast than an interactive meeting.

Zoom.us may be a more effective meeting solution for us all.

Best Regards,

Dennis Hall

Based on Zoom.us pricing page. The free plan comes with "40 mins limit on group meetings"

It can be a bit confusing but you want to send the invite link, so people can participate.  The YouTube link is broadcast and is for people who don't participate.
One way I usually set this up is to create a calendar invite, then add "video".  This will setup a hangout.
Screen sharing controls can be hard to find, I would join early to find them.

Is there a way to get the invite link early? I did not find a way so I shared a common link (https://www.nextsoftwaresolutions.com/VideoCoPMeeting/) and I will update the invite link on that page. You might need to refresh.

Another question, is there a way to control what is recorded. Like I might not want to record from 15 minutes before the meeting if I get in early.

Hi All,

We had a great meeting.

Jason demonstrated the current state of the prototype, which is really exciting for everyone who has worked on the profile as well as for those who are waiting for the profile to be released so that they can use it.

In the meeting we also decided to make some core changes. More details in the meeting minutes at:

Dear Pankaj:

I am sorry I missed the demonstration but a thought occurred to me.  In the ADB group we are developing two new prototype Actionable Data Books and we are seeking a well designed video player xAPI enabled to embed in the ebooks.  I would be open to testing out your prototype in this project.

Are you at iFest?  Lets connect this week and talk.

Best Regards,

John
