Hello xAPIers,

I wanted to make you all aware of the next ADL event, but I did want to offer a brief explanation of why this event, unlike most, does have an associated cost.

Most of our events are put on by ADL Staff, which, as a government program, cannot accept money or endorsements. We also, out of neutrality concerns and in keeping with the spirit of openness and sharing of knowledge, really try to squelch the “product speeches”.  The next ADL event, however, is actually being sponsored by NTSA (National Training and Simulation Association) and is July 31- Aug 2 in Alexandria, VA.  This conference is different in that a) NTSA has more swing in bringing in a diverse group of people, (particularly in the Washington DC area and US Government) and b) it is like other conferences in that there is advertising for organizations that sponsor the event or want to showcase their products and organizations on the floor.  The registration fees and sponsorship that their organization is allowed to do can help do more of the “conference-like” things like keynote speakers that you may be used to.

I urge you to take a look at the agenda at https://www.adlnet.gov/announcing-ifest-2017 and potentially registering if you are interested.  I’ll be there and will be involved with putting on the xAPI Workshop and always enjoy conversations with you folks that are actually going out and doing the work.

This conference also allows sponsorship opportunities that ADL events normally don’t have, so if you’d like the opportunity to market yourself, company, or product at an ADL event, there is a side panel on the registration page with information.

Thanks to you all!

Andy

Andy,
I missed this event last year, do you know if there is any plans for this year?

Hey Patrick, we are going to have iFest this year.  Timeframe now is the end of August, but it could change slightly.

Thanks Andy,
I'll block off my calendar to make sure I can go.  Looking forward to it.
