Greetings,
I'm contacting you on behalf of Wayne Gafford, formerly with ADL and
now with the Office of Logistics at Port Hueneme, Naval Surface
Warefare Center. We would like to know of any "technical data access
and usability" issues on board ship or in shore facilities when
performing maintenance or other work tasks? We think there is a real
need to make current maintenance support programs available on mobile
devices for more efficient and effective operation, maintenance,
troubleshooting and repairing of systems.
In particular, we are asking if it is cumbersome to locate the right
maintenance and troubleshooting information at the point of need.
Let's say a system displays a fault code, and the maintainer must
locate the related work packages or tech data or the performance
support. Do any of your contacts in the field see opportunities for
improving direct, traceable access to the right data at the right time
in a timely, confident way?
If these issues are evident, are solutions being developed? We would
like to know if there is an appetite for the use of mobile devices,
whether it is an iPad or other wearable type of device that displays
the performance support content, and then could help improve technical
data access and performance on the job site or even in a training
context.
Please reply if you are aware of any existing examples or projects
utilizing this type of mobile performance support on-the-job scenario
in the DoD Services and have a few minutes to discuss and share with
us.
Respectfully,
J Haag
