I use templates a lot and also use keyboard shortcuts. I
don't like the extra step(s)required to go thru the New
Workbook task pane. Does anyone know how to permanently
disable the task panes.......Not just at startup?

thanks,

Example for 2002

You have to use regedit to edit this registry keys:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Common\General]
"DoNotDismissFileNewTaskPane"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Excel\Options]
"StartupDialog"=dword:00000000
