Hello,

I have really trouble with with memmaker. When using memmaker on an Asus
TX97-E-Board (Pentium 200 MMX) with the onboard-IDE-controller memmaker
works fine. But...using the Promise FastTrak 100 TX2 do not work, after
restart with the optimized settings, system hangs after passing himem
memory-check.

And there is no difference in choosing the memmaker options -> no EMS, and
excluding most of the options, it seems that "loadhigh" will generally not
work :(.

Any ideas why the Promise-Controller brings the system to stop in
conjunction with memmaker?

Thank you for a hint.
Best Regards

An area of upper memory that the Promise Adapter is using is probably
being assigned by memmaker to be used by another driver.

Which DOS version?

Not really, but here's an idea to try anyway. There should be a BIOS
setting to reserve a block of upper memory for ISA devices, usually some
portion of the space from C800 through CFFF. Set the BIOS to reserve
that entire space. That will force the Promise to install its BIOS at
D000. Then in CONFIG.SYS, set EMM386.EXE to exclude the region beginning
at D000. That may get you going and allow some additional tweaking.

Something else that might help is move Promise to different (non-shared)
PCI slot. If you have a four slot board, it mighte work OK in 2 or 3 but
not 1 or 4.

Try also contacting Promise tech support.
